Description: For 25 years, The Loan Fund has been one of the primary sources of affordable credit that New Mexico’s nonprofits have relied on to grow and operate their business. This workshop will be led by The Loan Fund’s senior loan officers Norma Valdez and Cathy Sorenson who will provide an in depth look at how they evaluate the financial strength of a nonprofit, and when a loan might be an appropriate source of funding for the nonprofit. The workshop will include examples of the financial structures of some the many nonprofits that The Loan Fund has helped. Open to anyone, this session may be particularly useful for Chief Financial Officers, Finance Directors, and Board Treasurers.
Norma Valdez, Community Development Director, has been with The Loan Fund since 1997 and oversees the organization’s lending activities. Norma has over 30 years of banking and community lending experience. She is active in several community groups, including as a member of the National Community Land Trust Network Board of Directors.
Cathy Sorenson, Community Development Officer, has been with The Loan Fund since 1999. She is a senior lender for The Loan Fund with over 30 years of community development and banking experience. Cathy remains active in her church and volunteers at other community organizations.
