Villa Myriam & The Brew

by Loan Fund Staff
Villa Myriam and The Brew

http://www.villamyriam.com  /  http://www.thebrewabq.com

Brothers David and Juan Certain grew up in Colombia knowing great coffee. Coffee is a three-generation old family business that dates back to the mid 1960s when their grandfather founded Villa Myriam Coffee.  As children, the brothers would run through the fields of their grandfather’s coffee plantation learning which coffee beans were the best.

In October 2010, David and Juan started a wholesale coffee business in Albuquerque to import their family’s coffee from Colombia. They used the South Valley Economic Development Center’s commercial kitchen in Albuquerque to roast and package the coffee. It didn’t take long for Villa Myriam coffee to be a hit in New Mexico.

David and Juan became Loan Fund clients in 2012 to get the support needed to grow their business. With affordable credit and assistance from The Loan Fund, the brothers opened a roasting facility to expand their capacity to import, roast and distribute Villa Myriam Coffee to restaurants and retailers around New Mexico. Additionally, The Loan Fund has helped David and Juan open a downtown Albuquerque coffee shop called “The Brew.”

“The Loan Fund has been a key partner in our success, and an invaluable asset for the growth and future of our company.” – Juan Certain, co-owner of Villa Myriam and The Brew.
